The Federal Judicial Academy's (FJA) Library is the first automated library of Pakistan to fulfill the information needs of the trainees including Judges, law officers, and court personnel, who are under training in the Academy. Library contains more than 1200 volumes on judgment writing, civil, criminal, constitution, tax, and international law etc. The Academy’s Library is note only comprehensive, but advanced one. There are 20PCs to give access to the research material via PAKISTANLAWSITE.COM and Digital Library Program of the Higher Education Commission which include the following data bases namely Beech Tree Publishing, Blackwell Synergy, Bentham Science, Ebscohost, Oxford University Press, Pal grave Macmillan, Springer link, and Walter de Gruyter. The catalogue of the Library is online and it can be searched through Federal Judicial Academy website (www.fja.gov.pk), bar code technology is also being used for circulation. Besides, all participants are trained in online legal research technologies used currently; lectures are being delivered for the trainee judges like “Information Retrieval from E-Data bases”.
A significant number of current reference sources available on reference shelves, dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, directories, yearbooks, atlases, and bibliographies are distinct feature of Library. A handsome number of law journals are available in the Library namely, Pakistan Legal Decision (PLD), Supreme Court Monthly Review (SCMR), Civil Law Cases (CLC), Monthly Law Reports (MLD), National Law Reports (NLR), Pakistan Law Journal (PLJ), Criminal Law Journal (CrLJ), Karachi Law Reports (KLR), Yearly Law Reports (YLR), Pakistan Criminal Law Journal (PCRLJ), Pakistan Supreme Court (PSC), Peshawar Law Reports (PLR), All India Law Reports (AIR).
Our mission is to excel in supporting the academic and scholarly endeavor of our trainees, faculty, and resource persons in their core instructional and research requirements through utilizing the best possible resources, systems and services,. It provides a full range of services that include loans, online information searching, reference services, inter-library loan, document delivery, photocopying, viewing of audiovisual and access to virtual collection & digital resources, & online searching etc. The Academy’s Library enjoys inter Library cooperation with Information Resources Centre (IRC) U.S. Embassy Islamabad, for resource sharing and arrange visits.
