Federal Judicial Academy

Publications

One of the Aims and Objects of the FJA is to provide judicial education through publishing of journals, memoirs, research papers and reports (s.4(d) of FJA Act, 1997). To further these, the Academy has the following publications:

Journals: From this year, Academy will start publishing an annual judicial research journal with the name “Journal for Judicial Education”.  It will be Pakistan’s premier judicial journal containing articles written by the members of the FJA faculty, judges, magistrates, law officers and court personnel and other related persons.

Guidelines for the Authors

Memoirs: As another pioneer step, the FJA has initiated steps to publish memoirs containing writings and research papers written exclusively for FJA by the resource persons and FJA faculty available with the FJA Law Library. The first of its kind, a book on judgment writing skills is soon published.

Research Papers: The Academy has published few research papers in the past. However, a comprehensive plan to publish research papers regularly will be prepared for dissemination to the subjects of 1997 Act.

Reports: Academy regularly publishes its Annual Report. The Annual Report of FJA Law Library is available online in downloadable .doc format.

FJA Bulletin: A quarterly FJA Bulletin is published to disseminate activities of the Academy. From the year 2007, it will be published in more ‘interactive’ and ‘user-friendly’ format to include legal and judicial literature review, books, articles and websites review, essays on legal and judicial topics etc. Its outreach has been enhanced to 3000 copies per issue so that it can reach all the subject of 1997 Act, especially the judges and magistrates all over the country.

Bench Book: In 2002, the first-of-its-kind Bench Book was published by the Asia Foundation in collaboration with the FJA for the members of district judiciary. This Bench book was distributed to all the judicial officers of the country at that time. Every batch of newly-inducted trainee judicial officers receives its complimentary copy during training at the FJA.
